Gateway to Work is a 2 weeks course lasting 30 hours each week aimed at helping both young people (18-24) and people ages 25 and over, who are on NEW DEAL.
The aim of the course is to increase the confidence, motivation and overall employability of the participant.
Our enjoyable and informative courses will improve the skills needed in the workplace. Methods of training include group work and 1:1 delivery of training and eLearn and role play. Personal skills and Key skills development and an Outward Bound event helps the group to ‘gel’ as a team. Employability skills involving the support of a Job Coach and local and national employers and those who have signed local partnership agreements (LEP’s) will be integrated throughout the course.
Customers are motivated by face to face contact with employers during our work tours and when employers visit our sites. They give realistic advice on the skills that they are looking for, pay and conditions and job opportunities.
There will be a menu-choice of certificated training vocational courses delivered within the GtW programme which are relevant to the needs of the local labour market and innovative Jobsearch activities and opportunities for meaningful work tasters and placements.
Incentives for participants include complimentary treatments at our professional Hair & Beauty Salon ‘all about you’.
Support from our own discretionary fund to help with work clothing and equipment is available as well as free driving lessons for those people who find a job during and within two weeks of completing of the course.
GTW customers may be eligible for further training and incentives e.g. additional certificated short courses, training packages and free provisional driving licences. Our ‘Fast Track’ programme offers all of this and much more and is available to customers completing the GtW course.
