You are eligible for this programme if you are aged 18+ and you must be in receipt of Incapacity Benefit (IB) or Employment Support Allowance (ESA)
The programme is split into 2 stages, part one is First Steps
This is a two week innovative programme helping IB/ESA customers to improve their employability skills, confidence and motivation. The focus is on each customer’s individual needs via a diagnostic initial assessment and helps to remove barriers to move you closer to work. Includes support from specialist agencies such as Shaw Trust and Making Space, DEA, Incapacity Benefit Personal Advisers and In Work Support provider. Our focus is on challenging each customers perception of their ability to return to work. The programme aims to build confidence and motivation through team building. Incentives include make-overs and taster driving lessons.
Part Two is the Second Steps Programme
This is a 4 week flexible programme helping IB/ESA customers to build on First Steps provision and improve employability skills, confidence and motivation. The programme includes support and input from agencies and partners such as the Condition Management Programme team, IBPA’s and the In Work Support provider and Local Employer Partners (LEP’s).
Activities include: CV building, advice on when and where to look for jobs, transferable skills, help with application forms, self marketing advice and interview techniques. If required, basic instruction is given on browsing the web, completing on-line applications and setting up email accounts.
Training will include ICT, customer service, certified courses such as CSCS card, manual handling etc. You will have the opportunity to meet employers and undergo work placements of your choice. Driving lesson tasters, salon treatments and a further 6-week aftercare service is also available on completion of this programme.
